You’ll always want to check all of these first before you buy a cover. Because sometimes I’ve seen the same image on a slightly different cover and you don’t want that. I’ve bought a horror cover recently and just noticed it on another site with a slightly different title. Looks like I’ll be doing another cover. Some of my own covers I have done before (using Pixelmator-iOS) I also use Fiverr and usually I have the choice to look on stock websites (that the gig offers) and tell the designer which images to use and create something and the title and so on. Usually, it turns out pretty good, but sometimes I ask for corrections.
People I’ve hired on FIVERR: (mostly for my romance books I publish under another pen name)
Mouseeka But goodluck getting him he’s usually out of office. He did my first two Psionica book covers. I hope he’ll be able to do my third one! Cost me a pretty penny but I wanted something unique.
German Creative. She uses stock photos and does great with romance covers and fantasy. and usually only cost about 15-25 bucks.
Designacover is good. I only hired him a couple times and mostly stuck with German Creative. Starts at $5.
Sites I’ve found to have good premade covers.
Some can be a little pricey but some are $60 and I think for a good cover for a book you really want people to read is not a bad price range.
www.creativeparamita.com (one of my favs)
SO far those are the ones that I thought were good. There are others out there that I found just didn’t have good enough covers.
If you want/can make your own covers.
It’s the cheapest way to go. Right?
Stock images @ stockfreeimages
Pixabay is the best cause it’s alllllllll FREEEEE. Pixabay
There are many others if you google but I usually try and stick with Pixabay.
For a software designer i use Pixelmator which didn’t cost me much and is for the Apple iOS. If you’re into free then GIMP is a good free program. and PIXLr is a good website that you can use online to design and it’s very similar to Photoshop.
